The random planar graph process

چکیده
We consider the following variant of the classical random graph process introduced by Erdős and Rényi. Starting with an empty graph on n vertices, choose the next edge uniformly at random among all edges not yet considered, but only insert it if the graph remains planar. We show that for all ε > 0, with high probability, θ(n) edges have to be tested before the number of edges in the graph reaches (1 + ε)n. At this point, the graph is connected with high probability and contains a linear number of induced copies of any fixed connected planar graph, the first property being in contrast and the second one in accordance with the uniform random planar graph model.

Exact Solution of the Three-color Problem on a Random Lattice
We present the exact solution of the Baxter's three-color problem on a random planar graph, using the random-matrix formulation of the problem, given by B. Eynard and C. Kristjansen. We find that the number of three-coloring of an infinite random graph is 0.9843 per vertex.
متن کاملPlanarity of Intersection Graph of submodules of a Module
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with identity and $M$ be an unitary $R$-module. The intersection graph of an $R$-module $M$, denoted by $Gamma(M)$, is a simple graph whose vertices are all non-trivial submodules of $M$ and two distinct vertices $N_1$ and $N_2$ are adjacent if and only if $N_1cap N_2neq 0$. In this article, we investigate the concept of a planar intersection graph and maximal subm...
متن کاملRandom graphs on surfaces
Counting labelled planar graphs, and typical properties of random labelled planar graphs, have received much attention recently. We start the process here of extending these investigations to graphs embeddable on any fixed surface S. In particular we show that the labelled graphs embeddable on S have the same growth constant as for planar graphs, and the same holds for unlabelled graphs. Also, ...
متن کاملOn the M-polynomial of planar chemical graphs
Let $G$ be a graph and let $m_{i,j}(G)$, $i,jge 1$, be the number of edges $uv$ of $G$ such that ${d_v(G), d_u(G)} = {i,j}$. The $M$-polynomial of $G$ is $M(G;x,y) = sum_{ile j} m_{i,j}(G)x^iy^j$. With $M(G;x,y)$ in hands, numerous degree-based topological indices of $G$ can be routinely computed. In this note a formula for the $M$-polynomial of planar (chemical) graphs which have only vertices...
متن کاملA Linear-Processor Algorithm for Depth-First Search in Planar Graphs
We present an n-processor and O(lo~n)-time parallel RAM algorithm for finding a depth-first-search tree in an n·vertex planar graph. The algorithm is based on a new n-processor algorithm for finding a cyclic separator in a planar graph and Smith's original parallel depth-first-search algorithm for planar graphs [Smi86].
